Lee Yu-Jin born was on January 8, 1977 to a Korean mother and Hispanic-American U.S. Army father. Lee kept it a secret that she was mixed race. However, being 5 foot 9, there were many rumors that were said she was of mixed race, in which she denied. In May 2003, Lee decided to have a press conference and there she acknowledged that her father was an American GI. Lee's parents divorced when she was one year old and Lee was registered under her grandfather's name, making her lawfully her mother's sister. Lee considers herself to be more Korean.
